For those of you who don't know. I went back to school a couple years ago. I got my associates degree from Western Wyoming Community College, and I have since been accepted to the University of Wyoming. This was my first semester at UW. This is also my first final's week. I won't have any fishing posts up until after I get my tests done.
Come on 4.0!
This is a blog devoted to my fishing endeavors. It will include product reviews and some commentary on my latest conquests. I must confess that I am not a professional fisherman. I am at best a novice, but I've been fishing all my life. So this blog may be helpful to all of that enjoy fishing, not just for those that fish everyday.
Ratings System
My ratings system is based on a 5 point system. 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. The rating system is called Fishy Wishys.
An example of a review would be 5 Fishy Wishys for an excellent product.

Twin Buttes Lake
This is the lake I fished at today. I had one good bite, but I didn't get him. Oh well better luck next time huh.
It was actually kind of a funny experience. I'd spent most of the day looking for a place to fish that there wasn't already a ton of people. I drove to my usual spot and it was packed, so I started to make my way out of town. I didn't realize that most of the Laramie River outside of town is on private land without a whole lot of access for your average fisherman. I then went to another spot and that was full too. I finally decided to get way out of town, but that didn't work either.
I tried to find Lake Owen. I must drove right by it. By this time I was done. I started to drive back home when I seen a sign for the Laramie Plains Lakes. That's when I found this little gem.
3rd cast I got a bite. About half way through bringing him in I realized that I didn't want my trip to be over yet. It was at this point that I started to slow my retrieval down. Then I lost my fish. I didn't get another bite the whole time. I could kick myself for losing him. I guess it's not always about the destination, it's about the journey. I had a blast finding this lakes either way.

Good Fishin' This Weekend
Well I checked out the fishing report for this weekend and Sunday is supposed to be a good day. I'll be posting some pictures on this trip. Even if I get skunked I'll still show you all the spot.
As soon as the weather turns nice I'll be taking the float tube for spin in a lake I've never been to before. I know I haven't given my opinion on the float tube yet, but I'll give you a hint about it. It is worth money even if you only get to use it a handful of times. Only down side is if it ain't nice you'll freeze without full body wading suit.

No Fishies No Cry
Well I didn't get to fish this weekend. It actually snowed throughout the entire weekend. I looks like we are going to get a little more before it lets up. I will definitely be going some time this week. Oh well.
Keep a look out for my next review. I believe it will be on my new reel that I purchased last summer. It wasn't the priciest but I got the most bang for my book with the least amount of money.
I'll also talk about the low cost rod I've had for nearly 3 years now. This is the rod I use with my new reel. I could afford to buy some more expensive stuff. I've found out over the years just how high quality doesn't alway mean you have to pay a high price.
Stay tuned!

Weekend Trip
Perhaps a trip to the GreenBelt here in Laramie will be my weekend fishing project. We have a wonderful river (The Laramie River) that runs right through town. It has some nice little Brown Trout. The very first time I fished it I caught 2 Browns and 1 Chub. It was great, but I haven't caught anything else since then. I did have a couple bites last time, so I'm hoping to slay them this time.
I believe this trip I'll pull out my fly rod. I'm not too practiced on this form of fishing yet. Every time I go out and give a shot I get a little bit better. Who knows, maybe this time I'll actually catch a big one with it. My fishing advisor app says it will be an average day, but my hopes are high.

Berkley Strap-On Tackle Box
I was given a gift card from my wife's coworkers about 2 years ago. I used this gift card to purchase a bunch on fishing gear. By far the most useful and used of this gear has been the Berkley Strap-On Tackle Box.
I've used this almost every time I've fished since purchased it. It works heat and is still very comfortable. I give it 4 Fishy Wishys. For all of its great qualities and it awesome design idea.
The biggest draw back is a lack that the belt slips loose and you need to tighten it from time to time. This could be fixed pretty simply so I would for sure recommend this product for anyone planning on lure fishing.

Fishing licence
Just purchased my license for this year. Now its time to start catching some fish.
The next blog I post will be a review of some of the gear I purchased last year. Including my float tube, a new real, flippers, a fly rod for one of my daughters, a hip tackle carrier and a variety of nets.
